Babcock Australasia (Babcock) will continue its long-standing association with the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) after signing a two-year contract extension to service its appliances and equipment.
Babcock manages the scheduled maintenance of lifesaving firefighting assets on behalf of the MFS, including its fleet of 104 fire trucks, buses, and emergency and rescue equipment to ensure operational readiness.
It also manages the MFS’s inventory, provides technical and engineering input for asset studies, and oversees the mid-life refurbishment of appliances.
This is Babcock’s second contract extension since formalising its commitment to assist the MFS in August 2018.
“Babcock’s Australasian business is headquartered in South Australia and almost half of our Australian staff live right here in Adelaide, so we know and understand the value the Metropolitan Fire Service brings to our community,” Babcock Australasia Chief Executive Officer Andrew Cridland said.
“We have a shared ambition to create a safe and secure world together, and, as a South Australian myself, I couldn’t be prouder of the long-standing association we have with the MFS in providing high quality and dependable appliances to protect Adelaide residents in an emergency.
“By maintaining and servicing our local fire trucks we are not only investing in our hardworking firefighters, but also in the safety and wellbeing of our neighbours.”
The MFS contract forms part of Babcock’s ongoing commitment to the State’s broader emergency services.
“Earlier this year, Babcock delivered a new custom Airbus H145 helicopter to South Australia Police which is faster, lighter and 10 times quieter than the aircraft it replaced,” Mr Cridland said.
“Later this year, we will also deliver a third Bell 412 EP aircraft to the State Rescue Helicopter Service, which will be configured specifically for SA Ambulance Service medical rescues and retrievals.”
Babcock has more than 30 years’ experience providing emergency and mission critical services across Australia on behalf of a diverse range of clients, including the Government of South Australia, Ambulance Victoria, Queensland Health and the Australian Border Force. Babcock also works extensively with emergency services organisations around the world to manage complex combinations of assets, support equipment and training needs.
