Overview

Learn the strategy for delivering better systems and services to customers faster and at a lower cost, commonly referred to as Identify, Design, Optimise, and Validate (IDOV). Develop a working knowledge of the IDOV tools and methodology through a comprehensive series of classroom-based practical exercises.

  • Identify: The DFSS Project and Team; The Voice of the Customer (VOC)
  • Design: Concept Generation & Selection, Product Design, Requirements Flowdown
  • Design and Optimise: Transfer Functions and Expected Value Analysis (EVA)
  • Optimise: Robust Design; Robust design examples and exercises. Tolerance Allocation Quantifying the Sensitivity of the Output DPM to Changes in the Input Variable’s Standard Deviation. Design for X-ability and Scorecard Updates
  • Validate: Sensitivity Analysis; The Achievement of Breakthrough Performance
  • DFSS Case Studies and Examples
  • Design Exercise: Applying the IDOV Methodology

Course Details

Duration: 5 days

Funding for training may be available to eligible organisations through the Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry (SADI) Grants Program. To determine if you are eligible and for more information, details are available here

Who should attend: A hands-on workshop designed for aspiring DFSS practitioners  (engineers, scientists, project managers and operations staff)

Prerequisite: A strong background in Design Of Experiments (DOE), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), probability and basic statistics is required. Highly recommended for those who have completed the Operational Design of Experiments course

Accreditation: Use this course towards Green Belt Accreditation in Design for Six Sigma through Air Academy Associates
