Babcock employees help save more than 1,200 lives through record donations

Babcock’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which we operate has reached new heights, with our employees across Australia and New Zealand contributing an extraordinary 410 blood, plasma and platelet donations in 2025 – helping save an estimated 1,235 lives.

This achievement marks a 106% increase in lives saved compared to 2024 and reflects the growing strength of our partnership with the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood and the NZ Blood Service.

A standout year for the Defence Blood Drive

Our teams also made an impressive impact in the annual Defence Blood Drive, which ran from 1 September to 8 December. Babcock contributed 113 donations, an 87% increase from last year, and welcomed 10 new donors across the campaign. These efforts resulted in us placing:

  • 7th overall across all participating defence organisations, and
  • 3rd in the Defence Industry category, up from 9th in 2024.

The growth in participation shows how deeply embedded this partnership has become within Babcock and highlights the passion of our people in supporting those who rely on blood products every day. Our focus on donating is also particularly appropriate given Babcock’s role providing Helicopter Emergency Medical Services to communities across Australia – with some of our flights carrying donated blood products for in-air transfusions.

Every donation – whether whole blood, plasma or platelets – has contributed directly to saving or improving lives. To every team member who rolled up their sleeve this year: thank you.

Our success this year would not have been possible without the coordination, advocacy, and enthusiasm of our Babcock Blood Champions, who help spread awareness, onboard new donors, and keep the momentum going throughout the year. A special thank you to all our Champions:

We look forward to building on this success in 2026 as we continue supporting Lifeblood and the NZ Blood Service to help even more people in need.
