Babcock Australasia appoints new Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director – Marine

Babcock Australasia (Babcock) announced today the appointment of Jamie Hollamby as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer and Simon Spratt as Managing Director of the Australasian Marine business.

Mr Hollamby joins Babcock from Sydney Water, where he is currently General Manager, Finance & Business Performance, tasked with overall commercial performance of the organisation.

Prior to that, he worked at SA Water as General Manager, Business Services, where he led numerous teams including Finance, IT, Procurement and Logistics, Engineering and Performance.

Previously, Mr Hollamby worked at BAE Systems in a variety of roles, including Interim General Manager, Henderson Shipyard, Head of Finance, Corporate and Head of Audit, Businesses.

He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of South Australia, is a Member, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Mr Hollamby will be based at Babcock’s headquarters in Adelaide, South Australia.

Mr Hollamby said: “It’s exciting to be joining Babcock at a time when the company is positioning itself for current and future defence work across Australasia and the Asia Pacific region.”

In another senior appointment, Simon Spratt has been appointed Managing Director of Babcock’s Marine business in Australasia.

Mr Spratt is tasked with leading and driving execution of the company’s growth strategy and delivery of existing Marine contracts across the customer base to ensure Babcock is well positioned to deliver increasingly significant contracts across the Asia Pacific Region.

Prior to taking up this position, Mr Spratt held the Acting Managing Director – Marine position, as well as various management positions at UGL and Transfield Services.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) and Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Sydney.

Mr Spratt said: “I’m delighted to take on the role of Managing Director for Babcock’s Australasian Marine business. As the premier warship sustainment company in Australia and New Zealand and proven international shipbuilder, Babcock has a strong reputation with our customers and stakeholders and I look forward to continuing to work with them to deliver world-class capability to the Royal Australian and New Zealand navies, as well as our Asia Pacific partners.”
