Keeping New Zealand Ready
A strategic maritime partner to the New Zealand Defence Force
Babcock has been a trusted partner to the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) since 1995, delivering critical fleet sustainment and support services that help ensure operational readiness across New Zealand’s naval capability.
Today, we deliver the Maritime Fleet Sustainment Services (MFSS) contract, providing through-life support for the RNZN fleet and managing key infrastructure at the Devonport Naval Base in Auckland.
Our workforce of more than 600 skilled employees is supported by an extensive network of over 600 New Zealand-based specialist suppliers and industry partners, creating strong local capability and contributing to the nation’s defence industry.
As part of our operations, we manage and operate the historic Calliope Dry Dock within Devonport Naval Base. At nearly 140 years old, it is the largest of New Zealand’s two dry docks and plays a vital role in sustaining naval capability. The facility also supports maintenance and repair activities for commercial and private vessels, delivered in partnership with local suppliers and businesses.
Developing people and strengthening industry capability
Babcock is committed to building a highly skilled workforce and strengthening New Zealand’s defence and maritime industry capability. Through investment in apprentices, graduates and ongoing professional development, we create opportunities for people to build rewarding careers while supporting critical national capability.
We help develop the skills needed for the future, drawing on proven workforce development programs from across our global operations. By connecting local talent and businesses with opportunities across our international network, we support capability growth, knowledge sharing and long-term economic value for New Zealand.
