Our JP9101 program has been named winner of the Test, Evaluation & Systems Assurance Award at the 2026 Australian Defence Industry Awards. The announcement was made at the awards ceremony held in Canberra on Thursday, 16 July.

The Australian Defence Industry Awards celebrate the top businesses and professionals from across the defence industry.

The judging panel comprised former senior Australian Defence Force leaders, business executives, entrepreneurs and academics, ensuring entrants received peer-reviewed recognition of their capabilities within the defence sector.

The JP9101 program is delivering the Commonwealth’s Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS). The EDHFCS provides effective, reliable and resilient communication in the modern threat environment. The system will provide the Australian Defence Force and its allies with an enhanced communications capability with levels of reliability and operational resilience not seen before within this technology domain. Through Babcock, Australian and allied armed forces will have the ability to communicate securely using voice and data from almost any location across the globe.

We are building specialist HF integration, test and assurance expertise within Australia, strengthening the national engineering workforce and demonstrating our long‑term commitment to sustainable, sovereign communications capability.

“This award is great recognition for our team for the significant positive impacts the delivery has for the customer and for our business,” said David Jucha, Program Director.

As a Platinum partner of the event, Babcock proudly supports the development of Australia’s highly skilled defence workforce, and we extend our congratulations to all the winners and finalists of 2026.
