Babcock’s Imogen Larcombe and Luis Buchanan have been recognised among the defence industry’s 30 most outstanding young leaders at the annual ADM 30 Under 30 Awards.
Congratulations to Imogen Larcombe and Luis Buchanan who have been recognised in the Australian Defence Magazine’s (ADM) 30 Under 30. The announcement was made at the awards ceremony held in Canberra on Wednesday 4 March.
The ADM 30 Under 30 Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions that our future leaders make to the defence industry.
Imogen Larcombe
Imogen joined Babcock in January 2021 as a graduate on the Australian Defence Force Ground Support Equipment (ADF GSE) program and has remained with the team since. In 2024, Imogen was promoted to Senior Safety Engineer. In her current role, Imogen leads the safety program for over 240 assets across the ADF GSE fleet.
The Award highlighted Imogen’s work on the safety uplift program, which has improved audit readiness and documentation quality across the fleet. Imogen trains and supports engineers and technicians to improve safety outcomes, reinforcing a strong safety culture across the team. She is an active member of the Babcock Safety Engineering Community of Practice, contributing to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the broader safety engineering discipline.
Luis Buchanan
Luis joined Babcock in 2024 as an Assistant Project Manager, bringing with him a strong foundation in project consulting within defence organisations. Luis is based in Henderson, WA, and plays a key role in managing increasing project scope, changing requirements and ensuring capability is delivered. He also mentors a Project Management Graduate.
The Award highlighted Luis’s contribution to the development of an advanced weather forecasting and historical analysis model to assess potential delays, along with senior stakeholder engagement and schedule deconfliction. Recognised for his calm composure and clarity, Luis has fostered a collaborative culture that ensures reliable delivery on critical programs.
Babcock is a proud supporter of the Defence industry’s future leaders
Imogen and Luis join a growing list of successful Babcock employees in the ADM 30 Under 30 Awards. We congratulate them on joining Chloe Lawrence (2025), Sophee Clark (2024) and Adrienne Goode (2024) as 30 Under 30 winners.
Babcock is proud to be a headline sponsor of the Awards, as part of our commitment to acknowledging and celebrating the expertise and achievements of high performing future leaders in the defence sector.
Lachlan Ravenscroft, Head of Engineering Capability, spoke at the Awards ceremony.
“We are passionate about championing the next generation of young people entering the Defence industry and ensuring young people in Defence are well supported in their careers,” said Lachlan.
