Babcock secures Air New Zealand asset management contract

Babcock joins forces with Air New Zealand for critical ground support equipment management.

Auckland, 20 August 2019 – Babcock announced today it has signed a five-year contract with Air New Zealand to provide centralised ground support equipment management for the airline across New Zealand and the Pacific.

Babcock is best known for the management of the Devonport Dockyard, which includes complete ship repair, engineering services and strategic asset management for the Royal New Zealand Navy.

“We have a long history of providing critical fleet support and engineering services to the New Zealand Navy and other Navies around the world. What many people may not be aware of is that we also have extensive operations in the Aviation sector as well”.

“We work with Qantas and the Australian Defence Force in similar roles and we’re looking forward to transferring that knowledge and capability to New Zealand’s National carrier”

Babcock will provide centralised management of 4,750 Air New Zealand assets, including fleet strategy, supply chain and maintenance planning across 20 Airports in New Zealand and six in the Pacific. This will include maintenance and repair services for Air New Zealand’s Ground Support Equipment.
