Australia’s service men and women will continue to have leading-edge technologies to prevent and defeat Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) threats used against the nation’s interests thanks to an extended Counter CBRNE Prime Vendor contract between Babcock Australasia (Babcock) and the Commonwealth of Australia.
The new three-year contract extension of approximately $37 million supports 132 different types of Counter CBRNE equipment, including explosive ordnance disposal equipment, unmanned ground vehicles and chemical detection systems.
Babcock supports Defence to manage existing, and acquire new Counter CBRNE capability, including equipment acquisitions, maintenance and repairs. Babcock also supports Defence to identify new C-CBRNE technology.
Since 2019, Babcock has created almost 40 jobs and engages 52 small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) to support the delivery of the service to Defence.

This year, Babcock was recognised for its work in Counter CBRNE – awarded Land Business of the Year at the Australian Defence Industry Awards 2023.
