Kellie Jenkins believes in defending countries and protecting Australia’s values. That mindset saw her travel the world before serving her nation through her career at Babcock.
I served in the Australian Army for nearly eight years and during that time I was deployed on Operation Astute to Timor-Leste in 2008 as part of the 3rd Combat Services Support Battalion and on Operation Slipper to Tarin Kowt in Afghanistan with the Special Operation Task Group (2012/13). During both deployments I worked in the ammunition section servicing all the needs of the deployed forces and disposing of ammunition through controlled disposals.
One of my grandfathers served during World War Two in the Middle East and the other in South Korea as part of a UN Peacekeeping Force.
Anzac Day is an opportunity to reflect on my service, the service of others and the sacrifices made by all those who have not returned home. Usually it is a good opportunity to catch up with former and current defence personnel and reminisce.
I am a Procurement Manager with Naval Ship Management (a Babcock-UGL joint venture) in Henderson, Western Australia.
It means those who are still serving have the best reliable and serviceable equipment and minimal down time due to maintenance.
I am a patriot at heart and believe Australia’s values are worth defending.
